Hi Tankk,
I formerly used the FM7 as a talkbox synths but I'm not using it anymore. It is way to complicated for me. After a mayor crash of my PC, I have lost my favourite setting that I've used for talkboxing on the FM7.
Right now I have no fixed synth that I use for playing the box. I sometimes use the Trilogy Synth and also try to use the FM8.
However, I can give you a hint/tipp for setting up a useful sound on the fm7. Start with only one operator and program it to plain sawtooth. Then you can program a second operator also to sawtooth and pitch it up one octave. The second and higher saw gives a little more "life" to the sound.
Then you program your modwheel to a vibrato and your pitchwheel to about 1 tone up/down.
All according to your manual. It is written very well so even a beginner should understand it. But you should definetely have some basic knowledge about the basics of synth programming!!
Usually most of the members of the zapptown forum diss and flame people who wanna sound exactly like Roger or how you say it "California Love". Why? Because you should copy nobody but find your own style!
Good luck with the fm7. This bitch can be like a intractable donkey!
