TUbe to driver connectors, it affects your sound!

I want to know if anyone has played Around with different length connectors, and coatings/material type. I made my own prototype, and it definitely enhances the sound coming from your driver. to see for yourself, if you can, play your driver with and without your current connector and see the difference in sound. with the right shape and length connector, as well as material I imagine you could significantly have a real improovement .

yes, and no. I had a machine shop built one prototype for me but they did a couple things different because it was fine for the first one. The next few I have made I am going to increase the length of the chamber, and have the inside coated with titanium nitride, or some kind of coating. I also want to have one machined out of rubber/plastic type material. I guess if it is a success, yes I will offer them to the forum members for sale at or around cost. I realize you can buy these things, BUT all of them are generally the same size and shape... I have found a significant difference in sound when using my prototype versus my normal golden throat connector. I am aclittle suprised too that this important aspect of the talkbox is generally overlooked. you can see my homemade one on my youtube video, also on my myspace pics, there is a draeing that I gave to the machine shop. I will update the forum as I develop it furthur.

I know that Ozone, Sin2 and a lot of the other talkboxers use custom made connectors that are made on a lathe using different materials (brass, alu, steel) as far as I know.

There is a material (Schrumpfschlauch in german) that is shrinking when heated by a hot hairdryer. The cost is aroud the 1 Euro area and its available in different sizes. Actually one doesnt need a thead lathe and metal to build a connector. Just put it over the tube and the mounting thread of the driver, apply some heat and your done.

However with any material used, will it be either metal, copper, steel, or rubber:
A "wawoowee, california loove, shoobeedoo, nenene, nanana, I wanna be your man, nanana, meemeemee" does not make the difference to the unexperienced (and also experienced) listener...

yes thats it, thanks for the tip on that rubbery material... I have to agree to disagree with you on it not making a difference... not if you can hear it side by side. for me, I notice when I pronunciate with the bigger connector, I get more variation in what comes out, giving the talkbox more character. its like theres thicker sound waves bouncing around. im no expert on sound or anything, but there has to be some technical reason for this to be...

yeah, that box enclsure does make the cable jack look small,,, thats a really cool looking talkbox case. I do like the fitting you made too. I have been figuring the more you keep the throat opening un restricted the fatter the sound.
